Hello friends! Today I am going to share a Zakka Memo Book Cover Tutorial I've been working on. Hope you all enjoy!

Supplies

Linen:

1 rectangle 11 1/2" x 3 3/4", for the cover 

2 rectangles 4 1/2" x 3 3/4", for pockets

Print Fabric:

1 rectangle 11 1/2" x 3 3/4", for lining

2 rectangles 3 3/4" x 1", for pocket binding

2 squares 2" x 2", for pen holder

Lightweight fusible interfacing:

1 rectangle 11 1/2" x 3 3/4

1 3" x 5" pocket memo book

1 pen, marker or pencil (I used a mini gel pen)

Instructions:

Consider 1/4" seam allowances, unless otherwise specified

For design and embelishment purposes, the right side of the project will be the back

•  Fuse fusible interfacing onto the wrong side of the lining fabric

• Fold the pen holder squares in half, wrong sides together, press. Bring both edges to the center, fold and press. Topstitch 1/8" from edge. Set aside

• Fold the pocket binding in half, wrong sides together, press. Align to the back of the pocket, pin and sew using a 1/8¨seam allowance . 

• Bring to the front, press and hand stitch or topstitch to the back. See the little linen border on top of the binding? Love it!

• Lay pockets onto either side of the lining, right sides up. Pin

• Using a chalk marker or fabric pen, make two marks, left to right, at 2 3/4" and 7 3/4". Fold the pen holders in half and pin position to the right of the marks.

• Machine baste 1/8" from the edge

• Lay cover on top, right sides together. Remember that the back of the project to the right, pin. Using a chalk marker or fabric pen, mark a 2 or 2 1/2" space on the right side (back of the cover). This will be the gap for turning the cover

• Machine stitch all layers together, starting at one of the marks and ending on the other

• Clip corners and turn right side out. Gently poke corners. Finger press the opening and edge stitch to close

• Embelish the cover (optional). You can also embelish prior to sewing it all together.
• Press

• Insert memo book and pen... ta da!

I was inspired by this pretty pink fabric from Aunt Grace's 1930's reproduction fabric... I made the Bunny Charm using a Wilton COOKIE Cutter! ~ Me inspiré en esta linda tela rosa de Aunt Grace que reproduce telas de 1930... Hice el Adorno de Conejito usando un Cortador de GALLETAS de Wilton!

I've always been a creative person. I love the process of learning and I've enjoyed sewing, cross-stitching. smocking, quilting, wood and ceramic painting, cooking, baking, COOKIE and cake decorating, party planing...

Different techniques essential to developing my creative outlet, help express what inspires me and that sometimes start as a hobby and can (and have!) become a business...

I  rediscovered what was once my chosen career, sewing. I am trying new things, learning, socializing, meeting people.

I hadn't sewn since I started decorating COOKIES in 2005!! With the speed this world turns nowadays, I can't begin to tell you how things have changed! I am a bit scared but thrilled of all that's new! The best thing I've discovered is that crafty people are the same everywhere... sharing, caring and open to new faces!

Siempre he sido una persona creativa. Disfruto el proceso de aprender y he disfrutado coser, hacer punto de cruz, bordar smock, acolchados, pintar cerámica y madera, cocinar, hornear, decorar pasteles y GALLETAS, planear fiestas...

Distintas técnicas que han sido esenciales para desarrollar mi creatividad, me han ayudado a expresar lo que me inspira y que algunas veces comienzan como un hobby y pueden (y han podido!) convertirse en un negocio...

Re-descubrí lo que en un momento fue la carrera que elegí, coser. Estoy intentando cosas nuevas, aprendiendo, socializando, conociendo gente.

No había cosido desde que empecé a decorar GALLETAS, en 2005!! A la velocidad que gira el mundo en nuestro tiempo, no puedo siquiera describir lo mucho que han cambiado las cosas! Estoy algo asustada pero emocionada de todo lo nuevo! Lo mejor que he descubierto es que la gente creativa es la misma en todos lados... compartida, cariñosa y abierta a caras nuevas!

Bag, Pack and Wrap your COOKIES ~ Embolsa, empaca y envuelve tus GALLETAS

I use clear celophane bags... you want to buy food safe. And we need some kind of device for sealing bags. You can get a heat sealing machine or as I did, use a mini flat iron. I use mine exclusively for this purpose ~ Yo uso bolsas de celofan... compra las que son especiales para alimentos. Y necesitamos un aparato que sirva para sellar bolsas. Puedes comprar una selladora de calor o como hice yo, usar una mini planca alaciadora. Esta la usa exclusivamente para este propósito...

Start by bagging your minis ~ Empieza por embolsar tus minis...

I turn the iron On once I have all the COOKIES bagged, that way I work faster ~ Yo enciendo la plancha una vez que tengo todas las GALLETAS embolsadas, de esa forma trabajo más rápido...

Be careful when using the flat iron! It gets VERY HOT and you can burn and end with an ugly blister. Also, turn it Off if it gets too hot, or it will crinkle the celophane. We are looking for nice flat sealing ~ Ten cuidado cuando uses la plancha alaciadora! Se pone MUY CALIENTE y puedes quemarte y terminar con una ampolla. Tambien, apágala si se pone muy caliente, o va a arrugar el celofán. Estamos buscando un lindo sellado liso...

Leave 1/2" between the COOKIE and the place where you seal the bag ~ Deja 1 cm entre la GALLETA y el lugar en donde vas a sellar la bolsa...

Place the bagged COOKIES in the box ~ Pon las GALLETAS embolsadas en la caja...

This box has 2 layers of 4 bags with 3 mini COOKIES on each bag... that's 2 dozen COOKIE box ~ Esta caja tiene 2 capas de 4 bolsas con 3 mini GALLETAS en cada bolsa... es una caja con 2 docenas de GALLETAS...
